This book delves into one man’s emotional struggles, complete with relationship meanderings and intimate conversations. Touching on travel in the outer world, it explores human behaviour, weaving in psychological and therapeutic concepts, focussing on the protagonist’s inner life as it develops over a lifetime.
While navigating the behavioural paradoxes and perilous minefields within the human psyche, this journey probes the layers of conscious love and attraction, as well as the murky depths of unconscious misogyny. The narrative weaves together themes of a body’s betrayal, heartfelt friendships, the healing power of therapy, spiritual exploration, a guardian angel, life in the bush, and native wisdom shared by those wiser than him.
The author’s professional endeavours and personal passions have always revolved around his lifelong relationship with the green world; feeling more comfortable with plants (and animals) than people. His life has been a tapestry woven with two strong threads: an insatiable curiosity for the natural world and a powerful drive for creative expression. The core desire to bring physical creations into existence fueled his journey, craving blank slates, seeing them as an unwritten page.
Life’s adventures and his friends’ anecdotes have captured his attention. A curious tinkerer, he attempted to harmonize the aesthetic and the practical, seeking a balance between what looks good and what works well.
Writing offered him a different avenue of expression than speech, a skill he’d found difficult since childhood. The time afforded by health issues became a catalyst for his writing, enabling him to better convey and comprehend his inner thoughts and feelings.
Other pivotal events included his time in communes, being a stepdad, teaching children, living out higher ideals, and getting to know people, especially women.
